Why Are We Doing This??

Why are we holding an online auction for Sarah's Covenant Homes? Who are we doing this for? Why do we care?

We're doing this for Emma....

Who is around 3 months old and who weighs just over 5 lbs.

We're doing this because Emma has hydrocephaly and she also has spina bifida.  We're doing this because she needs immediate surgeries in order to survive.

We're doing this so that Emma can grow and thrive and experience the love of a family.  So that all her needs will be taken care of... so that she can have her surgeries and her vitamins and be held and kissed and told how beautiful and special she is... so that one day she can go to school and maybe one day she can learn to walk.

We're also doing this for Margaret..

Who has hydrocephalus and brain anomalies, vision loss and ovarian cysts....

And we're doing this for  Max...

Who has a serious heart condition and who needs surgery in just a matter of weeks...

We're doing this for Ruthie....

Sweet and funny Ruthie.... who despite appearances... has severe anemia....

We're doing this for  Jackie....

And for Valor

And for Honor....

We're doing this so that they will have a chance at a wonderful life... a GOOD life... a life filled with LOVE and HOPE and everything a child needs......

Like Rachel.....

Beautiful Rachel, who would have lost her leg had she not come to Sarah's....

And who now... thanks to donors and supporters... is WALKING with a prosthetic... leaving her with the freedom to make her own choice about her leg for when she's older.

'

We're doing this so that the new children will have a chance at LIFE.... like Andrew....

Handsome Andrew who was so weak and anemic when he came.  Whose legs wouldn't hold him up... who was feverish and so so sick....

And who is now in PRESCHOOL!

We're doing this so that these new children can experience LOVE... like April...

April, who was born without eyes... who we personally visited shortly after she arrived at SCH... who was so terrified of human touch, that she would just curl herself into a ball to hide from everyone.  April, who couldn't be held or touched. Who  was weak and couldn't stand....

And who now laughs and smiles and who has her very own nanny because of two girls who love her so very much...

And, finally, we do this to honor the memories of those that left this world too soon...

Like sweet Noah...

And handsome Jaron...

And pretty Shalene...

Like beautiful Elizabeth...

And enchanting Evelyn....

Children who died way too soon, but who passed on with dignity and care.  Who knew what it meant to be loved. Who were cared for and sung to and hugged and kissed. Who were bathed, and clothed, and fed.

Children who left this world knowing about their Heavenly Father.

Children who left this world as part of a family.

Children who left this world knowing how it felt to finally be loved.

Children who did not die alone.

That's why we're doing this.

And that's why we care.

Note - this blog post was actually written 10/01/11 after the new children came home, but I dated it with an earlier date so that it would show as the first post of this blog.
