SARAH'S COVENANT HOMES AUCTION FOR A CAUSE! OCTOBER 17 - OCTOBER 24, 2011

FAQ

1. How can I donate to the 2011 SCH Auction?

Thank you for considering making a donation! You can send a picture(s) of your item, along with your contact info, and a brief description of your item to schauction@yahoo.com .  We will then begin transferring all the data to 32auctions.com just in time for the auction to go live on October 17th.

2. I want to help, but I'm not crafty. Can I donate something I have laying around the house?

Absolutely! If you would like to help and have something that you think would sell, please send it our way! Just remember, SCH is a Christian organization, so please make sure that all items are tasteful.

3. Can groups participate in the auction? For instance, a senior group at my church or my daughter's girl scout troop?

Yes! That would be wonderful! Our main goal is to raise money for SCH and spread the word about the amazing children at Sarah's Covenant Homes. We welcome anyone who wants to help with this cause.

4. I heard that I could promote my business by donating to the auction. How exactly does that work?

You heard right! When you make a donation to the SCH Auction, four things will happen....

  1. A picture of your item will go on the Auctions for a Cause blog with the tag "Donated by..." with your name and website.
  2. Your name and a description of your business (along with a link) will go on the "Our Supporters" feature of the Auctions for a Cause blog.
  3. Your name and/or business will be featured next to your donation on the 32auctions.com website once the auction becomes live.
  4. Your item and business/cause/fundraiser will gain exposure to the nearly 18,000 SCH followers on Facebook, plus thousands more from blog mentions, Facebook forwards, crafting groups, and more.

It's a win/win situation! All proceeds from the auction will go directly to Sarah's Covenant Homes and your business/cause/fundraiser will gain exposure to thousands upon thousands of people.

5.  We're trying to raise money for an adoption and we're selling T-shirts, bumper stickers, and crafts.  Can we participate?

Yes! This is one of the reasons we decided to hold this auction.  We know that there are so many families trying to adopt or raise money for a certain cause, but getting the word out about a fundraiser can be difficult. Because orphans, adoption, fundraisers, and moms who run small businesses are things that are close to our heart, we knew that we wanted to find a way to not only help SCH but also help other causes as well.

We would be honored to help promote your fundraiser.

6.  I don't have a business or blog or website. Can I just make a straight donation to the auction?

Absolutely! We would still love to mention you on our blog, so please feel free to include a brief description about yourself. You can look under the "Our Supporters" tab for examples.  Or we can just mention your first name and last initial. Likewise, if you would like your donation to remain anonymous, we can do that too.

7. What about shipping? Do I mail out the item? Do you mail out the item? And who pays for the shipping costs?

There are two options....

1. You can mail the item to us and once the auction ends, we'll mail the item out for you.

2. You can hold on to the item and we'll coordinate contact between you and the buyer once the auction closes. The buyer is responsible for paying the shipping fees. Please make sure that your shipping costs are low and accurate.  This is a charity auction and we want to make sure that everyone involved has a pleasurable experience.  If you inflate your shipping costs to make money, then your information will be taken off our website (which will stay up year around until next years auction) and you will not be allowed to participate next year.

Once the auction ends, the buyer will be required to pay for the item. Items will not be shipped until payment is received. All funds raised by the auction will go directly to an SCHAuction paypal account and funds will be forwarded directly to SCH.

After the buyer pays for the item, we will direct him or her to the "seller" (i.e. the person who donated the item) and arrangements will be made between the two parties to coordinate shipping costs, how to pay for shipping, and the shipping address.

This is our first time to hold a charity auction, so please be patient with us as we try to navigate through the requirements and logistics associated with such an auction.  We will do our best to rectify any problems should they occur, and please keep in mind that this is all for a good cause - and should be fun!

8. I don't live in the U.S.  Can I still donate an item?

Yes, that would be great! Please keep in mind, though, that shipping costs can be high and that might discourage people from bidding on your item, so it might be best to include an estimate for shipping costs in your item description.  But we would love to include you!

9. How will we know how much money is raised?

We hope that you'll check back at this site the day after the auction for an update on how much was raised.

10. I have a question, but don't see it answered here. Who should I contact?

You can contact us at schauction@yahoo.com . We'll be happy to answer any questions you might have. And please don't forget to check here often, as we'll be updating this page as we gear up for the auction.
